GoodRx Launches Affordable Therapies and Savings Guide for Women in Menopause

GoodRx has introduced new menopause treatments from Pfizer, along with a comprehensive guide on menopause medication savings for patients, as per a recent announcement. Patients with prescriptions who meet eligibility criteria can now access affordable menopause therapies at over 70,000 pharmacies nationwide, with costs ranging from $99 to $249. Prices may vary based on the specific pharmacy and location.

GoodRx’s research highlights a 58% rise in the cost of menopause medications since 2014. Currently, women pay an average of $14.33 out of pocket for menopause prescriptions, though medications with limited insurance coverage, such as Activella, can cost over $100 per prescription. For example, with a GoodRx coupon, the generic form of Activella in Pittsburgh is available at CVS for $47.72.

Further data from Elektra Health reveals that healthcare expenses for women increase by 45% after a menopause diagnosis compared to prior costs.

“Menopause is a natural stage in a woman’s life that deserves proper care and recognition,” stated Lisa Larkin, former president of The Menopause Society. “Initiatives like this are vital to enhancing health outcomes for women everywhere.”

Menopause affects women not only physically—with symptoms like hot flashes—but also mentally, leading to challenges such as anxiety, depression, and brain fog.

The high costs associated with menopause treatments may also reflect the “pink tax,” where products marketed toward women are often priced higher than those for men. For example, in Houston, a GoodRx coupon can make 30 tablets of generic Viagra available for only $6.27.

Larkin added, “By lowering cost barriers and emphasizing the importance of menopausal health, this effort directly supports women’s well-being and encourages broader conversations around comprehensive care for women at every life stage.”
