Rula Health is a digital mental healthcare provider that connects individuals with licensed therapists and prescribers across the United States. Their platform offers therapy and psychiatry services for individuals, couples, families, and children, covering over 80 clinical specialties.
Rula Health has announced a collaboration with Amazon Health Services to bring its network of over 10,000 mental health providers to Amazon customers via the Amazon Health Conditions Programs. This partnership aims to make mental healthcare more accessible and streamline the connection process for patients.
Through the Health Conditions Programs, individuals can access digital health services offered by their employer or insurance provider. Amazon’s initiative supports the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, prediabetes, and high blood pressure while now incorporating mental health resources.
This collaboration seeks to simplify access to covered mental health services, enabling users to connect with providers with just a few clicks. Rula’s platform allows patients to search for mental health support using terms like “stress relief” or “anxiety relief,” and the system matches them with providers who accept their insurance. Patients are paired with the most suitable provider within minutes, with appointments often available as soon as the next day. Additional services include 24/7 crisis support.
Rula’s advanced matching technology considers factors such as language, cultural background, and specific therapeutic approaches to ensure patients connect with a provider who meets their unique needs.
Rula partners with major insurance carriers, including Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Kaiser, United Healthcare, and many Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, covering over 120 million lives nationwide.
Wider Industry Trends
Amazon’s Health Conditions Programs debuted in January with its first partnership with Omada Health, a chronic condition management platform. In 2022, Omada Health expanded its offerings to include behavioral health support within its programs for diabetes, hypertension, and musculoskeletal care. This added focus on behavioral health includes tools for anxiety and depression assessments, addressing social determinants of health, stress management, and sleep improvement.
Omada Health also achieved a significant milestone in 2022, raising $192 million in Series E funding, bringing its total funding to over $256 million. The round was led by Fidelity Management and Research Company, with contributions from Civilization Ventures, Perceptive Advisors, aMoon, and Wellington Management.
This collaboration between Rula and Amazon underscores the growing focus on integrating digital health solutions to address both physical and mental healthcare needs comprehensively.
